Who we are
We are a registered Non-Profit Organization that serves the Mooiplaas (Spruit) community. Our community-based program provides care and support to vulnerable children in the community.
The Mooiplaas community is largely impacted by unemployment, poverty, social and economic vulnerability.
The high unemployment rate in the community continues to negatively affect the children. Some children can go for days without a proper meal. Some must go to school without proper uniforms, stationery, or shoes.
Ditshego is a place of safety for the children. They are assisted with their schoolwork; they can play in a safe environment. And they also receive a nutritious meal.
Our Vision:
To create a sense of hope. We want the children to know that they can break out of the poverty surrounding them.
We want to bring meaningful change to the life of children. We want to assure them that even we limited resources they have the power to break the chains of poverty.
Our Mission:
We strive to lay a life-changing foundation for the children. We want to unlock the God-given potential in each child in the community.

Our History
Founded in 2007, Ditshego House of Laughter serves as a place of hope for the community of Mooiplaas.
The Mooiplaas informal settlement consists of around 40 000 residents.
They are mostly low-income earners and unemployed parents. With an alarming increase in child-headed families.
The settlement was formed about 15 years ago. It is located around the major household dumping site in Centurion.
Where it all began
Ditshego meaning laughter was started as a Place of Safety by volunteers. The volunteers were from different Methodist churches. Their focus was on HIV positive children. Ditshego was home to 6 children.
In 2008 we introduced a day-care center. We wanted to create a safer environment for other children in the community.
The day-care was formed by several church groups in the skeleton of an old stable of the original farm. Over the years we have managed to completely transform the day-care and the stable.
We have transformed them into a pre-school facility.
In 2016 we purchased another property in Lochner Road Raslouw. We were able to achieve this through the help of The Church of the resurrection in Kansas USA.
This property houses our offices, various community projects, and our house of safety.

Change a child's life today by sponsoring them at Ditshego House of Laughter.
By sponsoring a child, you are not only making a difference in one individual’s life but contributing to building a brighter future for South Africa’s next leaders. Get involved today!

How to help with donations
Our day-care center creates an environment of love, security, education, stability for venerable children between the ages of 3 to 6 in and around the Mooiplaas area. With your help, we aim to expand the school to include orphans, children from child-headed households and children whose parents are unfit to work. Help us make a difference in the lives of these children by sponsoring a child.
