Reaching out to all in need during Lockdown.

We were informed by the Department of Education and Department of Social Development that we have to close all our projects due to the Corona Virus on the 25 March 2020.  A nutritional program with food parcels was put in place to ensure that the children, families and the aged were fed during this trying time of isolation.

As a result of the closure of schools, children were not receiving the two meals that they would normally receive from us. We distributed just over 1000 food parcels to the children, families and the aged that were part of the different projects. Many volunteers and members from the Westview Methodist church helped the staff with the packing of these food parcels. Blue Valley Spar assisted us with the “buckets of love” project and packed food parcels and donated bread that wase collected on a weekly basis. The Sutherland Spar also assisted with food donations together with a number of individuals and companies.

Good communication in the time of lock down is crucial and therefore a second project was implemented. Data was donated to our staff members to stay connected and keep in touch with family and friends. Many thanks to all the donors who made this possible.

We also looked after the emotional needs of the Mooiplaas community with a number of programs being initiated and social workers visiting homes. The families, children and the aged were so grateful for the assistance that they received during lockdown. We would like to convey our gratitude towards all the donors that made this possible. God provided in abundance. Instead of focusing our eyes on the storm, we kept our focus on the greatness of God.
